GL2012OSUTeam
Congratulations to all of the OSU Shuai Chiao Kungfu Club members who competed at the Shuai Chiao Nationals!
With only one previous GLKF Shuai Chiao Nationals competitor, the young OSU Kungfu Club Team still did very well:
Marya Barrios returned to take a 1st Place in the Women's Divisions for the second year.
Wendy Dayton took 2nd Place in the Women's Lightweight Division
Eric Juang took 2nd Place in the Men's Heavyweight Division
Fabricio Castellano took 3rd Place in the Men's Heavy-Middleweight Division --
after fighting back with four consecutive wins in the second-level bracket.

Club President Nick Blum and Safety Officer Ben Crawford both won their second matches.
In his second match, former Club Treasurer Emil Slobodnik held a much heavier Black-Belt opponent scoreless
for two regular rounds --
and two overtime rounds -- forcing a final Judges' decision to end the match.

Charles rapidly ascended the divisions and places.

The OSU Shuai Chiao Club's top competitor, Husam Sweidan, and Ho-I Instructor Ryan Shumaker both gave their best efforts

Shuai Chiao Kungfu Club Instructor Mike Grigsby with Buckeye Tang Soo Do Instructor Tom Marker and BTSD members

OSU Kungfu Club Head Instructor Mike Grigsby presented a two-hour Tan-tui Kungfu seminar for the Buckeye Tang Soo Do Club on August 3rd, 2008.  The founder of Tang Soo Do, Hwang Kee, studied Tan-tui kungfu and other Northern Chinese styles which he incorporated, along with Okinawan and the Korean martial arts, into his eclectic Tang Soo Do (literally, "Chinese Hand") style.  The Grandmaster of our school of Shuai Chiao, Ch'ang Tung Sheng, was also an eclectic martial artist, and had passed down his knowlege and interpretation of the Tan-tui forms.  It was a pleasure and honor to help spread the knowlege of this Northern Chinese Muslim form of kungfu to other serious martial artists of the modern era.
